A servant of God plain and simple

Shelley Hundley

Below I’ve posted a link to a really incredible testimony of one of IHOP’s Leader Shelley Hundley. Her story really speaks of the power God has to wrench us from the mire and clay, to wash us and transform us, to give us beauty for ashes. She is so brave to have shared it even braver to have lived it.

REVIVAL IS COMING, REVIVAL IS COMING,

November 11th, a massive outpouring of the spirit took place at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, and since that initial outpour over 16 weeks ago IHOP has been experiencing a time of blessed revival during which the Holy Spirit has been releasing joy, healing and deliverance.

They are calling this move of the Spirit “the Awakening” and books thick of testimonies are flooding in concerning the incredible things God has and is doing. For example the Spirit has been setting people free of deep emotional wounds, depression, suicide, self hatred, addiction, imparting healing, joy, and boldness (boldness for example that allowed one normally shy girl to stand on a high school cafeteria table and proclaim the message of the gospel) . If you would like to see for yourself what is happening in Kansas please please go to the International house of Prayer Awakening website (http://www.ihop.org/Publisher/Article.aspx?ID=1000065259).

HERE are some of my some favorite highlights, resources and testimonies

40 DAY DANIEL FAST FOR UNIVERSITIES

As exciting as what is happening in Kansas City it is just a trickle of the great river of His Spirit that God is getting ready to unleash. Many are prophesying that we are on the brink on the 3rd Great Awakening.  In this coming mighty move of the Spirit God is highlighting Boston and the New England area, famous for being centers of revival and revolution (it’s were the First Great Awakening began, and 30 years later where the first shots of the America Revolution rang out),  Boston is also a global capital for education with almost one in five of the population being students.

Right now many with the heart to see colleges and universities set ablaze with the love of God are engaged in a 40 Day Daniel Fast for Universities (March 1-April 9th). Several IHOPU students are actually in Boston during the 40 season of prayer and fasting, believing that it will emerge yet again as a center of revival. I pray that all of you would come to understand the importance of this moment in history and choose to be apart of it in whatever great or small way, for example by praying, fasting, attending one of the 40 Day Fast prayer meetings*, and by simply looking at and or sharing these resources.

With this faith in our hearts, we are calling all of those whose hearts are stirred in colleges and universities across America to engage March 1st through April 9th in a 40-day Daniel fast (no meats, no sweets and limited intake) March 1st through April 9th releasing one great cry, one dominating prayer, “Lord of the harvest thrust forth laborers into the harvest field. Give us a third great awakening in the universities of America!”

Believers Authority

Hello everyone, I know it has been a while since my last blog post, and I’m beginning to sound like a broken record, or worst yet the Britney Spears “Oops I did it again” song, but 2010 has many great things in store, and as the word says in Philippians 3:13 “This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are ahead”.

Right now I want to share an unspeakable great resource with you, a sermon series by Kenneth Hagin Sr. called the Believer’s Authority. These messages are directed more at believers (although unbelievers are welcomed to check them out and leave feedback).

I’ve been chewing on these messages for weeks now wanting the truth of Hagin’s or rather the Holy Spirit’s words to sink deep down into my heart, and affect profound change in my life. What Hagin is trying to do in this messages series is get believers to see the POWER and AUTHORITY that Jesus has invested in us, power and authority that allows us to overcome the enemy “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you” Luke 10:19. So many in the church are sorely erred in their thinking concerning the enemy. They either don’t acknowledge him, think he is a fictional character, or they give him too much credit, they think they have to run from him. But as it says in Luke 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”, and these truths will most definitely set you free.

Later on this week I plan on posting sermon notes I have taken on this message, which you are superbly welcomed to look at. Below is one of my favorite video excerpts from the sermon series, it will give you a good picture of what you are in store for.

Make sure sure sure sure to check out the to the Believer’s Authority Youtube Channel, [link] ] for the full messages: Message 1 Message 2 , Message 3 ,

Thanks you so much for visiting, and I pray just like Paul did in Eph 1:17-23

17I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[f] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength0which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Perspective Two: Chris

Back in August my parents were doing some work on our house as I wrote about in my last perspective article, way back in August.

During that week of construction I had gotten use to the presence of workers in our house, or so I thought. So when I returned home from prayer one morning I waved at one or two who were in the front yard then went inside to start the day.

Before I left my room to go to the kitchen to get some breakfast I looked at myself in the mirror, I was quite pleased with my appearance particularly the progress I’d been making towards reaching some weight lost goals.

This contentment was destined to die however when I went into the kitchen, moments later and saw Chris, (not Christ, Chris). Who is Chris you ask, Chris was a majorly beautiful construction worker. Dimpled smile, blue eyes brown hair, rippled abs, muscular chest adorn with a cross necklace, (construction workers don’t always wear shirt remember) very Ambercrombie and Fitch. I made a few stuttered statements to him, ”how much work do you guys have left to do on the house”… “l like your necklace…are you a Christian”, etc, etc, then went back to my room.

Once there in my room me being the introspective person that I am had to reflect on the encounter because something had transpired during the course of it.

Like I said before I stepped into the kitchen I was alright even enthused with my appearance, after I saw Chris that sentiment of “hey I look pretty good”, left and was replaced with thought that, gee I needed to step my game up (I even remember scrambling around my room to see if I could find a better top to wear). Now I wasn’t condemning myself, but seeing Chris, a fine example of physical excellent showed me that.. I still had work to do.

A scripture that does a brilliant job uncovering what took place in that interaction is Eph 5:8-11 it says “

8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)… 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.12 For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, 14 for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said:
“Wake up, O sleeper,
rise from the dead.

Now I wouldn’t consider myself to be a disobedient sinner, however the physical excellence that Chris aptly named radiated, showed me that I still needed to grow in that area. Now we need to have balance our physical bodies are not the only part of our humanity, we have our spiritual, mental, and social lives to look after. However I was thankful for Chris who reminded me on that occasion to strive for excellence.

For those of your reading this post that do not know Christ, this post was not just to talk about Chris and his hotness, but rather to point you to the infinitely more splendid, more beautiful, more wonderful Jesus Christ, whose death is the only hope we have for eternal life. Next to Jesus none of us look very good, like the word says in Romans 3:23 “we’ve all sinned and fallen short of his glory”. However Jesus wants to take our ugly broken lives and turn them into something new and something beautiful, and I pray that you would let Him begin that redeeming work in you today. Please check out the “I Believe Page” to find out more about the new life in Jesus Christ.

Thank you all for visiting, do come again and again

And I pray that you found something of hope and encouragement here

And for those who don’t know the Lord, I implore you, get to know Him today.

Blessings

Pending…

Like I told you guys, last week was the first time I’ve been active on my blog in something over 3 months. Last week was also the first time in several weeks, that I have logged on to the portion of wordpress were you manage you blog they call it the dashboard (those of you with wordpress blogs or similar know what I am talking about). In the wordpress dashboard there is a column that shows the comments you have received, and when I logged in last Saturday the first thing I saw highlighted yellow was a comment from a reader, Lillie Howard, with the word Pending in italics beside it.

I clicked on a link so that I could read through Lillie comment, which had some very kind and encouraging words about how she had learned about my site from a mutual friend, and been very blessed by it (you can read it if you like, it is in the I believe page).

When I saw the comment and then read through it it I was struck down by a bolt of conviction, you see Lillie had posted this comment Friday August 7th, and because of my entrapment of blog inactivity I was only seeing it 2 weeks later Saturday August 22. The word God used to zero in on my unfaithful behavior was “Pending”. The word “Pending” told me that someone, in this case Lillie, had been awaiting my response. The issue is that word was not isolated to that particular case, seeing Lillie’s comment made me imagine a 1000 other yellow highlighted boxes with the words Pending written in them, which all spoke of some action I had yet to take on someone’s behalf.

The story form from scripture that illustrates the idea of “pending” magnificently is nestled in the story of Paul’s remarkable conversion. For those who don’t know Paul was a persecutor of Church who after an encounter with God on the Road to Damascus became arguably the greatest apostle of the Church (here is a link to the full story).

Three days after God had struck Paul down on the road Damascus He comes to Ananias and says “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.” (Acts 9: 11-12)

Now if Ananias had a wordpress blog this command by God would have appeared in a yellow highlighted box with the word Pending next to it. Upon receiving the Lords command Ananias has some understandable fear, “Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem. And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name (Acts 9:13-14)”. But after God speaks to Ananias a second time telling him “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel. I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”(Acts 9:15-16), Ananias obeys His command. The key to Ananias’ ultimate obedience was the shift in his understanding that takes place when God speaks to him a second time. I believe God’s second word to Ananias where He calls Paul a chosen instrument allowed Ananias to stop seeing Saul as he was (a persecutor) and to start seeing him as was intended to be (a chosen instrument), and in turn to also see himself  as an instrument of God, the one He was using to initiate this remarkable change.

My prayer is that my vision would be renewed so that I can see those Sauls/Pauls God is calling me to not as they are but as how they are intended to be, and that I would start responding with the same obedience Ananias did.

Since last week I’ve been checking into my wordpress dashboard daily (not all that many comments though, so now it is you turn to get busy responding) and like I said, I’m so much more committed to the mission God has given me to admonish, inspire, enlighten everyone like Lillie who comes to the blog, so please keep coming.

Be Blessed

Perspective: Construction

This week we had work done on our home—we got new windows and had some of the old siding taken off of the front. Seeing that process take place sparked this idea about perspective. When the work was getting done on our house it looked like a mess with construction equipment everywhere, glaring pink insulation, gaping holes, plywood, saw dust, and not to mention three construction workers walking and climbing all over the place. What is funny is that this “mess,” this “worsening” state of my house, was actually helping it to reach a state of overall improvement; e.g. having new windows and siding.

A lot of times when people look at their lives, or look at other people’s lives, they see the mess, but they don’t see the purpose behind it. This week my family and I tolerated and actually welcomed the mess of construction in our home because we knew that, one, it would not be permanent; and, two, that there was a purpose behind it. And this is the same way we have to view a lot of the so called “messes” in our lives.

Don’t confuse what I’m saying; a lot of the messes in our lives have no business being there (just like a leaky roof doesn’t belong in house), but some messes are really just God’s construction work meant to build and form us into what we were meant to be. So please allow God to carry out the good work He began in you.

In that last statement, I made an allusion to Philippians 1:6, “He who began a good work in you shall complete it.”

But for those of you who do not know Jesus as Lord and Savior, God has not begun that good work in you because you have not welcomed Him into your life. Before the construction workers could begin working on my house, my parents had to make a decision to let them. It is the same way with us and God. God is the architect of life and He has an amazing plan and purpose for yours, but before He can begin construction on your life, you have to let Him. Make the decision to let God begin construction on your life today; it is the best and most important decision you can make (Go to the “I Believe” page to find out more).

Thank you for reading.

Be Blessed.

Sorry It Has Been So Long

So happy you are visiting the site. I’m sorry it has been so long since I last posted a blog (over 3 months ago). This issue of me neglecting my blog writing is one that I’ve dealt with in the past (see Apologies). The reason (reason, not excuse) I would give as to why I have not been blogging goes back to the passage in Matthew 13 where Jesus talks about the various types of ground. Here it is for those who have never read it or just need to be reminded.

“Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9He who has ears, let him hear…..
(I strongly encourage you to read the rest of Matthew 13 (link) )

As it concerns to blogging, I’ve, been a lot like the one who received the seed among thorny ground. “The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful” (Matt 13:22).  Basically this practice of blogging hasn’t taken root like it should because a lot of cares and concerns have been choking it up: working, dancing, unsupportive people, and also my own laziness (I am actually a combination of the stony and thorny grounds). But I’m determined to become good flourishing ground. “But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown”(Matt 13:23). There is so much that God has given me to write, to sing, to speak, and even to dance, and my blog is the place for me to do that—so I won’t neglect it anymore. So please, please keep coming back. Even feel free to leave angry comments if you see that I haven’t been blogging (but not too angry ;) ). Enjoy my latest post about perspective—the first post in a series about the subject.
Be blessed.
